As the weather warms up, lots of us are planning our summer holidays and looking forward to jetting off to sunnier climes. But when you’re cruising over the South of France at 30,000 ft, do you ever stop to think about all the little widgets that come together in order to get that plane into the sky and carry you away?
Little things that make bigs things possible
The UK has a history of industrialism, and that business spirit continues to be alive and kicking today. Of course, these days there’s rather less coal and rather more carbon footprint awareness going on, but nonetheless, we’re a nation of industry and ever increasing entrepreneurialism. The backbone of that however, is the SME sector.
We’re all familiar with the big, flashy businesses that deal in the end products that we interact with, the ones we see, the ones we know about. They’re the ones that make the airbuses and the supercars of the world. However, without the little sub components, made in smaller workshops up and down the country, there wouldn’t be any flashy air travel to jet off in at all.
Individuals behind big business
At Rivers Leasing we’re not in business of funding the airbuses and supercars of the world. At least not directly. However, we do fund the people who make the nuts and bolts. The little things that make the big things possible, without whom none of us would ever go nowhere.
So when you head off on your summer holidays this year, take a little moment, not simply to marvel at the glories of air travel, but to think about all those little widgets that make it possible.
From the bits that allow your seat to recline so you can sleep all the way to the Caribbean, or the switches that mean you can read the latest Scandi thriller under your own personal spotlight. Perhaps some of them were made by a person working on your own street or a friend? It might even be you who’s making it all possible!
