It is with enormous sadness that we said goodbye to our colleague, Tim Shand, last week as he passed away surrounded by his family, following a year-long battle with cancer.
As many of you reading this will know, Tim was our Business Development Director, and had worked with us for four years, building relationships with brokers across the UK. While Tim’s professional credentials, and 36 years in financial services, are both impressive and certainly worthy of acknowledgement, for all of us they are a small percentage of what made our colleague such a valued member of the team and indeed, friend.
The nature of Tim’s role with us meant that he travelled the length and breadth of the country meeting individuals and developing supportive and collaborative working partnerships, so it is little wonder that we have had so many kind messages of condolence over the past days. His warm manner and genuine care for the people around him was an attribute that he brought to his relationships inside the company as well; something that he was able to emanate whether he was in the office or at the other end of the phone. His presence has been and will continue to be sorely missed.
Tim leaves behind his beloved wife and two sons. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
Given the support that Tim received from the charity, Maggies, this year, the family is raising funds towards their ongoing work providing emotional, symptomatic and social care for cancer patients. We have included a JustGiving link below if you would like to contribute.
Rivers Leasing Chairman, Ratan Daryani said: “Tim was a highly regarded member both of our team and the wider business community, and the thoughtful way in which he combined professionalism and genuine humanity in his day-to-day life and work is something that I, for one, have been inspired by in the time that I have known him. Most of all however, it is as a friend that we do, and will continue to miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.”
